The Farmer's Market is one of my favorite places in Springfield. Lucky for me, the market takes place on Thursday evenings as well as Saturday mornings/afternoons. That means when I'm too lazy to wake up on Saturday I don't have to wait a full week to see the market. I've only been a few times this summer, but each time I'm completely and pleasantly surprised. The market is always packed: families, couples, farmers, kids, dogs, and anyone else you can think of. The area is alive and people are smiling and enjoying the perfect colors that line every table and booth.
The produce is always perfect and there is always something new to try. My favorite booth? The goat cheese man. For obvious reasons.
I visited the market this evening in an effort to get my mind off the rituals of daily life. Work, exercise, dinner, shower, sleep. Monotony is a dangerous trap to fall into and I needed to mix it up this evening.
The best part about tonight may have been the banjo-stand-up-base-playing-folk band next to the Mother's Brewery tent. The live music helped the night feel a little bit happier. I'm thankful for that.
Scroll through and check out the shots I collected in my wandering. The colors of the produce are absolutely perfect and each homemade goody is just as delicious as you can imagine.
If you're in the Springfield area, go check out the market this weekend. Bring that guy or gal you've been thinkin' about, grab some freshly made sangria, and stroll through a world that doesn't feel like Springfield.
Thanks for stopping by, y'all.
